Matt started racing Microds at age 10 on the infield track at Spencer Speedway in 1988. At age 16, he started his NASCAR© career in the Grand American Modified class. In 2001, Matt raced every race at both Spencer Speedway and Wyoming County International Speedway (WCIS). He finished 4th in points at Spencer and 6th in points at WCIS with 2 FEATURE WINS and a few heat wins to his credit. Matt also has raced at Dunn Tire  Raceway Park and Oswego Speedway.

Best Racing Moment: First FEATURE WIN in May 2001 at WCIS

Worst Racing Moment: TIE:
1) All of Matt's family missed his first feature WIN, because they were away at a family wedding (Matt said weddings should not be held on race days!).
2) Climbing over a car and the wall at Spencer Speedway. A car spun in front of Matt coming off turn 4 in preparation for the green flag. Matt hit the spinning car's tire, launching him over the car and into the wall. The car was damaged so bad, he could not continue that night. To add INSULT to INJURY, he was not awarded any points or award money, since he did not cross the start/finish line.
